- The key to all these products is the Structured Wiring, this
infrastructure will let you connect components to distribute Audio or
Video. Share a internet connection or printer. Set up a

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and
Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) has created a standard for
residential telecommunications cabling. It is know as TIA/EIA 570-A Residential
Telecommunications Cabling Standard standard.
Their standard calls for Cat5 (Cat 5e recommended) and RG-6 (quad-shield
recommended). The Grade 1 supports telephone and TV with Cat 3 (again Cat
5e is recommended) and one RG6. Grade 2 supports telephone, TV, and high
speed data and multimedia with two Cat5 (5e recommended), and two
RG6. Cables should be run in a star configuration. Required
locations Kitchen, Bedrooms and the Family/Great Room. It is recommended
to also wire the Den/Study or Parlor and an alternate location for at least the
Master Bedroom.
